A Song from a Dad to His Boys

I communicate love to my boys by giving them a hug. My husband, Brian, communicates love to our boys by writing them an epic song.

He wrote it back when we only had two little guys- a blondie and a redhead. Now there are four. And the blondie turned brown and the littles grew up.

But over the years, that song has become a favorite in our house and the boys come running from all corners of the house when they hear the intro.

At one of our neighborhood dinners a few nights ago, I caught it on tape.  So…in honor of Father’s Day coming up this weekend, here’s “Me and My Boys.”  The lyrics and then the video are below.

It was a long, long night

When from out of nowhere came that light blonde hair

What on earth did we do?

Then it happened again

I don’t know what I said when I saw that bright red but my jaw hit the floor

These two boys they really got my heart

I don’t love them for what they can do

I love them for who they are

One thing I know for sure and I don’t think I have much choice

Chips off the old block
