“Come As You Are” – A 2-minute film you need to see

Celebrate Recovery Come as You AreI believe in the power of God to communicate hope through story.  That’s why, when I was offered the position of Creative Director at Fellowship Bible Church in Northwest Arkansas almost 20 years ago, I jumped at the chance.  With a team of actors, writers, and directors, we learned to tell stories on both stage and screen.  Redemptive stories that told the true story of the gospel while capturing the imagination and the heart.

I tearfully left Northwest Arkansas in 2001 to happily marry my Romeo in Nashville, but the creative team at Fellowship Bible Church kept going strong.

Recently, my friends and fellow actors from those good ol’ days, Roger and Evan Crawford, came to visit us and described a recent short film their drama team was a part of, titled “Come as You Are.”  It was produced by Kyle Kleber, the film director at Fellowship Bible Church, Northwest Arkansas, for the Celebrate Recovery National 2015 Summit.

Today, I watched the 2-minute film for the first time and knew you needed to see it, too.

It’s truth, redemption, and the power of community, all wrapped up in a short story of big hope.

About Celebrate Recovery:

Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program that helps us overcome our hurts, hang-ups, and habits.  It is based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory.  20 years ago, Saddleback Church launched Celebrate Recovery with 43 people. It was designed as a program to help those struggling with hurts, habits and hang-ups by showing them the loving power of Jesus Christ through a recovery process.

Celebrate Recovery has helped more than 17000 people at Saddleback, attracting over 70% of its members from outside the church. Eighty-five percent of the people who go through the program stay with the church and nearly half serve as church volunteers.  Celebrate Recovery is now in over 20,000 churches worldwide.
